The Brief

This was a passion project in tackling the harmful terminology that is used towards the disabled community. The goal was to educate the Gen Z and Millenial audience on the absurdities of the currently used medical model language when speaking about people in the disabled community. It is a project aimed to sow a seed of doubt about the current widespread (medical) model and promote the social model of disability.

It was crucial to find a balance between being entertaining and getting the important messages across. Taking the target audience into consideration Instagram was the prime choice to create the campaign on.

Solution

I created a set of Instagram caroussels coupled with engaging illustrations explaining key issues in the disability world and letting the audience figure out the flaws in the current harmful terminology people are used to.
